The
Shirdi Sai Baba Rural Hospital, situated in the Vadu Budruk village
in Shirur Block of Pune District comprises the 2 nd tier of the Vadu
Rural Health Program. Founded in 1981 with financial support from the
Government of India, State Government of Maharashtra and the Shamdasani
Foundation, this 30-bed hospital managed by the KEM Hospital, Pune provides
secondary level care to the 22 villages of the Vadu Rural Health Program
with a population of 68,000 and beyond.
With a staff of 3 resident medical officers (Medicine,
Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatrics) assisted by 30 paramedical
and support staff, the hospital treats about 12,000 out-patients and
1200 in-patients annually. Additionally, the Vadu Hospital provides
weekly specialty services in General Surgery, Skin, Ophthalmology, ENT,
Sonography and Anesthesia with the help of the various departments of
KEM Hospital, Pune. The hospital averages out-patient care to more than
1000 patients and treats about 100 in-patients per month.
Funded by the KEM Hospital, Pune, and more recently
by the Shamdasani Foundation , Hong Kong, the hospital provides clinical
care, at a subsidized cost, to the underprivileged rural section of
our society.
How to come to Shirdi Sai Baba Hospital
From Pune city:
(Travel by car)
Take the Pune Ahmednagar Highway - 25 km to Koregaon
Bhima village - after crossing the Bhima River, take a left at Koregaon
Bhima - travel 3 km to Vadu Budruk village.
(Travel by Pune Municipal Transport - PMT)
Take a city bus (direct route # 162) from the Municipal
Corporation or along route at the Pune Railway station till Vadu Hospital.
OR Take a city bus (route # 159) from the Municipal
Corporation or along route at the Pune Railway station till Koregaon
Bhima village. From Koregaon Bhima village, take an autorickshaw or
jeep to Vadu (distance of 3 km).
