                                       Concessions at VADU Hospital

The Shirdi Sai Baba Hospital, Vadu subsidizes patient care to a large extent and has a fixed 'charges schedule' for all procedures and medicines. Additionally, the hospital makes available further concessions based solely on socio-economic merit of any patient who may desire to avail of this service. The hospital requires any of the following documents to support a claim for concession:

Below Poverty Line Ration card (yellow card)
  Income certificate from Gram Sevak
A resolution of the Health Committee of the village of residence of the patient certifying poor socio-economic status of the patient and signed by at least 3 members of the Health Committee.

The need for concession is further verified by the socio-economic status database for its population of 72,000 that has been generated in 2007 by the Vadu Rural Health Program. Recommendations from political leaders including the Sarpanch are not considered.

The final decision to offer and the actual quantum of concession is at the sole discretion of the Medical Officer.

In addition, the following services are offered free at the hospital:

Immunization for children, pregnant women (on Thursdays)
  Ante-natal care examination
  School Health examination
  Non-scalpel Vasectomy
  Laparoscopic / abdominal tubectomy
DOTS (Direct Observed Treatment - Short Course) for Tuberculosis
Peripheral blood smear examination for malaria parasite
  Sputum examination for Tuberculosis
